The Icelandic Association of Professional Dancers

Founded 27th of March 1947

The founders of The Icelandic Association of Professional Dancers (Félag íslenskra listdansara) were all young women who had studied classical and modern dance abroad, in the United States of America or in Europe. They brought the art form to Iceland and became the Pioneers.

From the very beginning the association has devoted itself to the promotion of dance and serving the interests of professional dancers in Iceland. Today the aim is to create a common ground and facilitate flow of information between dancers, teachers, schools and choreographers. This website is a part of that information forum; a site where everyone can find news and useful information on dance.

The Icelandic Association of Professional Dancers is an active member of various art foundations in Iceland.
